Stoneware Teapot 600ml

This unglazed stoneware teapot was wood-fired using a very particular technique, which produces truly unique effects. The clay takes on a blackish tone with metallic highlights that are further enhanced by the play of flame and ash. The deep red halo radiating from the spot strongly marked by ash is particularly beautiful.

I take great care in making teapots, making sure that each of them pours well and that their lids fit as they should. Fired at high temperatures, they are vitrified and non-porous; however over time tea tannins will give them a patina, testifying to their regular use.

This teapot can be used to steep most types of loose-leaf tea because of its interior strainer. For sencha tea, however, it is recommended that an additional strainer be used.
