About

From the first, my work as a potter has been guided by the practice of wood firing. This firing method, while ancient, offers me a way of combining tradition with modernity. Contact with the flame and the accumulation of ash give the objects an aesthetic that can only be achieved with this technique.

I like to make everyday objects with great care, giving consideration to the way each piece will be used. My work owes its individuality not only to wood firing but also to the fineness of the pieces and the simplicity of their shapes.

The use of everyday objects, the world of plants and minerals, tea time, clay, fire, forest and the passage of time through the changing light of day, the seasons or a firing — these for me are elements that are interwoven in my practice and form an integral part of my approach.
