Here is a beautiful wood fired hidasuki teacup. A high firing temperature and the play of flame and natural ash on iron-rich clay has given the surface of this tea cup superlative qualities. The imprint left by plants adds contrast, subtlety and movement to the piece. It was positioned in a particular spot in the kiln where the effects of flame and ash are especially rich and unique. Only a few pieces can be placed in such a spot in a single firing. The cup, with its thin, delicate lip, is a pleasure to hold and will become an integral part of your tea-drinking experience.
Although fired at high temperatures, vitrified and non-porous, it will take on a patina from tea tannins over time, testifying to its regular use.
Each piece bears the unique imprint that only wood firing can bring, making it a treasured item for any tea lover. The photos shown are of the exact teacup you will receive.
