Stoneware Chawan 450ml

The firing of this chawan was strongly marked by reduction, producing the black metallic tones visible at certain places on its surface.  The effects of the flame, leaving ash in its wake, are particularly rich in this piece and have created many nuanced tones, shading from green to blue and from vermillion to orange.

This piece brings all kinds of images to mind, evoking both the plant and mineral worlds. For me, the green tones are those of mosses and lichens that meld with blue-grey stone to which they cling as they grow.

 Each piece bears the unique mark that only wood firing can create, making it a treasured item for any tea lover.

Instructions for care: To preserve the colour and keep it free of tannins, rinse the piece directly after use and wash afterwards
