Unglazed stoneware Chawan 450ml

Chawan fired in a wood-fired kiln. This piece is placed in the kiln where the flames from the two fireboxes meet, remaining there throughout the entire firing process. This results in a heavy accumulation of ash that eventually melts and sometimes runs, creating a richly textured patina.

Only one bowl of this kind is produced per firing, making it a prized object for any tea enthusiast.
